Awards

Dear ICPM11 attendees,
We look forward to welcoming you at the Nagaragawa Convention Center in Gifu City, Japan May 31 to June 5, 2026. By attending this meeting, you will become a member of the International Society for Plasma Medicine (ISPM) until the next meeting in 2028.
At each conference the society recognizes the scientific contributions of our members under the auspices of two awards: The Plasma Medicine Award (PMA) and the Early Career Award in Plasma Medicine (ECAPM). As a current member of the ISPM, you are encouraged to nominate candidates for:

Plasma Medicine Award (PMA): the highest recognition awarded by the ISPM for lifetime achievements in Plasma Medicine. Up to two awards may be granted at the discretion of the Board of Directors of the ISPM.

  • To nominate a candidate please submit the following:
    • nomination letter detailing the lifetime achievements of the candidate
    • complete curriculum vitae of the candidate.

*If more than one person wishes to nominate the same individual, you have the option to submit a single letter, signed by all nominees.

Early Career Award in Plasma Medicine (ECAPM): recognition awarded by the ISPM to an early-career researcher for their significant contributions to the advancement of Plasma Medicine, independently from their mentors or advisors. Up to three awards may be granted at the discretion of the Board of Directors of the ISPM.
Eligibility: The awardee must have received his/her first Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) no more than 12 years before Jan 1, 2026 for ICPM11. One year will be added for each child of the nominee. No sitting member of the Board of Directors is eligible for the ECAPM award.

  • To nominate a candidate please submit the following:
    • nomination letter, describing the achievements of the candidate
    • complete curriculum vitae of the candidate.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS FOR EITHER AWARD WILL BE DISREGARDED.

PMA: Alex Fridman, Mounir Laroussi, Micheal Kong, Georg Isbary, Gary Friedman, Klaus-Dieter Weltmann, Jean-Michel Pouvesle, Eun-Ha Choi, Masaru Hori, Hans-Robert Metelmann, Thomas von Woedtke, Michael Keidar, Annemie Bogaerts, Yuzuru Ihehara., Steffen Emmert, Vandana Miller.
ECAPM’s: Xinpei Lu, Cristina Canal. Matteo Gherardi, Nagendra Kaushik, Sander Bekeschus, Endre Szili, Katharina Stapelmann, Augusto Stancampiano.

Please submit your nominations to Vandana Miller (vam54@drexel.edu) no later than May 1, 2026. Only the complete nomination packages will be shared with the Board of Directors of the ISPM who will then deliberate to select the most suitable candidate(s) for each award.
Both awards will be presented to the winners at the ICPM11 on June 4th during the conference dinner.
